About this Product

-This piece is a non-native tribute to the Gros Ventre/Atsina Nation, faithfully and respectfully recreated in the traditional ways.

Now showing our latest war-shield, dedicated to the Gros Ventre/Atsina Nation of Montana. (Ancestors to the Arapaho Nation)

A striking display of battle regalia, invoking the warrior’s courage and brutal bravely!

Beginning with a thick rawhide core, sun dried and hardened to perfection, fully lavished in tribal detail.

Forty magnificently hand painted feathers, wrapped in red wool and sinew, hang from the shield’s perimeter. A soft tanned deer hide covers the front, stretching around the rear, held tight with sinew.

A striking painted symbol at the shields center, possibly representing the sun and the seven sacred directions. Stitched red wool frames the front perimeter, with small deer hide bags hanging at both sides of the center symbol, holding three desert medicine stones.

Aged Warriors bells hang just below, within the fringe, that ends with beautiful white spotted feathers. Ermine pelts hang within the feathers along the base, along with two lush horse hair tassels.

The torso strap is made of tanned buffalo leather. Red wool accents, with Erman tails and foot stitched Into it.

On the back, a rawhide handle, with tanned buffalo hide stitched over.

An extremely fierce and rugged presence, with the spirit of a Warriors pride perfectly captured. A magnificent centerpiece for any collection.

The shield portion of this piece measures 20 inches, with a total length of 32 inches.

Thank you for fostering Native American heritage through the fine arts.
